Catholic schools supporting faith@work

Faith@Work

Throughout May, Catholic schools across the Diocese of Parramatta will be taking part in the Diocesan Works Fund (DWF) Appeal faith@work.

Executive Director of Schools, Greg Whitby, said the DWF Appeal provides much-needed funds for essential ministries of the Catholic Church.

‘Our school communities are an integral part of the wider Church that supports one another,’ said Greg. ‘Bringing the DWF appeal into schools also provides opportunities to deepen the understanding of Catholic social teaching for students, families and staff.’

The DWF supports more than 20 Catholic ministries and agencies throughout western Sydney and the Blue Mountains including:

  • Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CDD) educating in faith children in public schools
  • Seminary- training priests
  • the Ephpheta Centre providing services to the deaf and hearing impaired
  • the Parramatta Youth Office
  • the Office of Worship, Social Justice and the Institute for Mission providing opportunities for faith formation in the Diocese

The funds collected in the DWF Appeal also supports the social welfare arm of the Church, CatholicCare Social Services, that provides many service including:

  • Emmaus Disabled Persons Catholic Services
  • Blacktown Neighbour Aid
  • Financial Counselling
  • Relationship Education (including Pre-Marriage Education)
  • Responsible Gambling Counselling Service
  • Relationship and Family Counselling
  • Solo Parents’ Ministry
