The Mass of Thanksgiving to God on the Occasion of the Farewell of Most Rev Anthony Fisher OP, Archbishop-elect of Sydney and Administrator of the Diocese of Parramatta, was held at St Patrick’s Cathedral Parramatta on Wednesday 5 November.
 
“Faith, hope and love: this is what the Church is for, what this Diocese is for – what the Bishop is for,” Archbishop-elect Anthony said in his Homily.
 
“Happily our people express their faith not just at church but in lives of Christian leadership, service and devotion, and above all in making their homes domestic churches… as the Bishop of Parramatta, it has been my privilege to feed that faith.”
Teacher Briony Mowbray, from McCarthy Catholic College, Emu Plains read a speech thanking Archbishop-elect Anthony on behalf of Catholic educators.

‘We all have great confidence in the work that God is doing in Australia through you Bishop, and we are all so thankful that we have had the opportunity to be a part of your journey and you, such a significant part of ours,’ said Briony. ‘Your vision for our diocese has been an inspiration and your capacity to guide and lead us together in the realisation of that vision has given us great hope in our future.’

Also, taking part in the farewell was Principal of St Thomas Aquinas Primary, Springwood, Sergio Rosato who read first reading and students Tom Hogan St Pauls Catholic College Greystanes and Samantha Arnold Caroline Chisholm College Glenmore Park took part in the offertory procession.
