Science Week

Our recent Science Week was sensational as students made volcanoes, created electricity from potatoes and as well as built an oven to make a toasted sandwich.

Thank you to the children in Stage 3 who completed their own projects at home.

All classes attended a science production from The Silly Scientist; it was great to see the chemical reaction needed to make elephant toothpaste, exploring sound waves from guitars, the density of water, optical illusions and wind resistance.

All classes participated in a building task towards the end of the week and on Friday we were able to walk through the classrooms and look at the projects.

Kinder attempted sandcastles, Stage 1 made tall towers, Stage 2 and Stage 3 built bridges. Many children joined us at Break 2 for a Science Stop In observing experiments. We looked at Rainbow smarties, making lava, rubber eggs and milky rainbows.

Many of these experiments can be seen on YouTube and are made from regular household products.

Our science week demonstrated that science is all around us - how have you used science today?
