Engineering to Success!

Throughout the first week of Term 4, all students from St Patrick’s Primary, Blacktown became engineers and engaged in problem solving challenges.

“It was challenging and fun at the same time.” said Louise Sergio from Year 6.

The Science Week theme Engineering to Success, was based around the text Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. Astronaut Kate Rubins read this story from the International Space Station! The students were excited to hear this story read all the way from Space!

After listening to the story, students engaged in a variety of individual and group cross-curricular activities. Students enjoyed problem solving, planning, experimenting, designing new things and participating in a range of literacy activities. They even became digital engineers and had a go at coding! Hopefully this has inspired some scientists for the future.

“We were building towers and we had to make sure the base was bigger than the pieces on top, otherwise it would fall down.” said Jeremiah Pelayo from Kindergarten.
