Educating for the future

The learning journey at St Patrick's honours the developmental stages in a student’s life. Based on leading educational research and the best of today’s technologies, we prepare students for the future by teaching them how to think critically and creatively, how to communicate effectively and how to lead and work both independently and collaboratively.

St Patrick’s has a contemporary approach to learning, based on leading educational research. Through the use of flexible learning spaces and teacher expertise, we aim to achieve the best outcomes for every child.

The school design and adaptability of spaces make it easy to navigate through the school and are designed to maximise learning benefits.

We offer families high-quality accessible education that challenges each student to discover a meaningful, hope-filled and flourishing life.

As the building blocks for all learning, we have a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy throughout our learning and teaching programs.
Literacy at St Patrick's Catholic Primary Blacktown

Literacy

All students experience a balanced and coherent program of literacy instruction for a minimum of 100 minutes each day. Literacy sessions include opportunities to engage in speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities via group and individual activities. We explicitly teach writing skills such as proofreading to build confidence in producing their own texts.

Students are exposed to a range of literature and independent reading is strongly encouraged. Reading recovery Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

Numeracy at St Patrick's Catholic Primary Blacktown

Numeracy

Mathematics at St Patrick’s is incorporated into the school timetable for 60 minutes each day. This is a dynamic and engaging time of learning with warm up activities, open ended tasks and reflection time. Students work with both concrete materials and abstract ideas and are challenged to become lifelong learners in numeracy.

Mathematics at St Patrick’s is based on the Australian curriculum as prescribed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and is underpinned by the EMU (Extending Mathematical Understanding) program.
